AECOM is seeking an Associate Highway Engineering Design Task Lead to be based in Eastern Pennsylvania. AECOM has offices in Mechanicsburg, Philadelphia and Conshohocken, PA. This is a HYBRID position and additional office locations may be considered. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and design oversight to highway engineering designers working on medium to large scale transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area. The Associate Highway Design Engineering Task Lead will utilize their experience to develop the highway design technical approach, delegate design tasks and provide technical guidance and oversight to other highway designers working under your direction. This person will also coordinate with other project disciplines' Design Leads, the highway engineering Technical Lead or Engineering Manager, and the Project Manager to advance project scope and deliverables. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Oversee the development of design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details Oversee the development of rigid and flexible pavement designs Oversee the development of signing and pavement marking plans and details Oversee the development of construction phasing plans and develop maintenance of traffic based on interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needs Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates Oversee the development of 3D Model in OpenRoads Oversee the development of technical calculations and reports per client and/or internal AECOM standards Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews Contribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budget. Contribute to the development of proposals and other marketing efforts to win new work. Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client's scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making. Urban interstate reconstruction including interchange ramp and local roadway re-alignments, traffic control, and utility coordination in final design to mitigate level of service and improve existing conditions STATE RD RECONSTRUCTION (Bucks County, PA)
Suburban arterial reconstruction including right-of-way plan development, roadway geometry, pavement design, traffic control, and utility coordination in preliminary engineering to mitigate existing roadway flooding SR1 RECONSTRUCTION (Chester County, PA)
Freeway reconstruction including profile adjustments, interchange reconstruction, interchange ramp realignments, multiple roundabout designs, trail designs, and side road alignment adjustments. US-22 RECONSTRUCTION (Allentown, PA)
Urban interstate widening from 4 to 6 lanes. Project Includes bridge replacement, interchange reconfiguration, stream relocation, sound barriers, safety improvements, traffic control, and utility coordination. I-81 RECONSTRUCTION (Avoca, Moosic, and Scranton, PA) - Urban Interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, 2 interchanges being fully reconstructed including ramp realignments, intersection improvements, right-of-way coordination, and structure coordination for 15 bridges along mainline and ramps. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, with highway transportation projects EIT Certification Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review Demonstrated knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering plus six (6) years of related experience with highway transportation projects located in the United States Professional Engineering License (PE) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Knowledge of OpenRoads (ORD) design software to oversee the development of the highway design and the 3D model in ORD Design experience working on projects for PennDOT and/or the PA Turnpike Commission Ability and willingness to offer mentorship to various levels of staff
