The Senior IT Consultant
OT Infrastructure is a critical member of Entergy's Operational Technology (OT) Infrastructure group. This individual is responsible for the design, implementation, operations, and continuous improvement of infrastructure technologies that support OT environments across the enterprise, including data centers, substations, and control centers. The role ensures reliable, secure, and compliant infrastructure services across systems such as servers, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backups, disaster recovery, and storage, with a focus on automation, resilience, and regulatory alignment. Key Responsibilities
Lead and implement OT infrastructure strategy, roadmaps, and delivery plans in coordination with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity teams. Provide advanced support for day-to-day operations and lifecycle management of OT infrastructure components including servers (Windows/Linux), workstations (Windows), virtualization (VMware/Nutanix), storage (NetApp/Isilon), and backup (Commvault). Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards including NERC CIP, NRC Nuclear Cyber (10 CFR 73.54), and other energy industry frameworks. Serve as a technical SME and contributor during audits, assessments, and compliance remediation activities. Identify and respond to emerging cyber threats applicable to industrial control systems (ICS) and OT environments, and collaborate on implementing mitigating solutions. Drive automation of OT infrastructure processes to reduce delivery cycle times and improve reliability, repeatability, and security posture. Partner with vendors and managed service providers to ensure service levels, delivery quality, and alignment with Entergy's architectural and security standards. Provide Tier 3 escalation support, including on-call availability to maintain system uptime for critical OT operations. Support infrastructure for critical OT systems, including SCADA, Distribution Automation, Smart Grid, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). Advocate for infrastructure improvements and resilient design within generation plants, substations, control centers, and other OT environments. Track key metrics to monitor and improve system effectiveness, availability, and compliance. Required Experience and Qualifications
8+ years of infrastructure engineering or IT operations experience across server, storage, virtualization, or security disciplines. 2+ years of experience supporting OT or ICS environments, preferably within the energy or utility industry. Strong experience in at least three of the following technologies: Windows/Linux OS, VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, EMC, Commvault, Active Directory, or patch management tools. Familiarity with SCADA systems, control systems, Smart Grid technologies, and electric utility distribution networks. Hands-on experience with real-time systems and cybersecurity risk mitigation in regulated environments. Demonstrated ability to support compliance programs (NERC CIP, NRC, FISMA, NIST, etc.) Experience working with outsourced and cross-functional teams in high-stakes, regulated environments. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Knowledge and Skills
Deep understanding of infrastructure systems supporting OT and cybersecurity controls applicable to industrial environments. Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks including NERC CIP, NRC 10 CFR 73.54, ISO 27001/27002, NIST, COBIT, and ITIL. Proficient in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Perl) for automation and task efficiency. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders across the organization. Strong documentation and reporting skills to support audits and governance. Willingness to travel and support geographically dispersed OT assets. Education
Associate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Certifications
ISACA certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA Vendor certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, NetApp, VMware, or equivalent ITIL Foundation or equivalent process management certifications
