Applications Engineering Director Job ID: 3196D Florida Respond with resume to dab@photonicsgrp.com Responsibilities : Maximizing the efficiency and capabilities of a CNC centers including 4- and 5-axis vertical milling machines, horizontal milling machines, twin spindle turning centers with milling capabilities, 5-axis mill-turn machines, Swiss-style machining, Wire EDM, and Surface and cylindrical grinding. Oversee and ensure the successful implementation of precision manufacturing processes, optimize machining performance, and provide technical support to production teams, suppliers, and customers. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects, collaborate across departments, and contribute to continuous improvements in our manufacturing operations. Oversee the transition of the current machine shop into a diversified machining center that supports a multitude of customers with current resources. Collaborate with design, engineering, quality, and production teams to develop and implement precision machining strategies. Program, set up, and operate precision machining equipment including 4&5 Axis rotaries, Swiss equipment, and Okuma to produce high-quality components. Optimize machining processes through trials, simulations, and tests to identify the most efficient tools, speeds, feeds, and tool paths. Create and maintain CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, ensuring accuracy and repeatability. Education/experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience Hands-on experience with modern CNC machinery including programming, setting up, and operation. 10+ years of experience in an operational / engineering management role. Proven leadership and team management skills. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, or Fusion 360 In-depth understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, materials, and feeds/speeds optimization. Strong ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Requires proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and applications. Experience with a wide range of CNC equipment and processes, including: 4- and 5-axis vertical milling machines Twin spindle turning centers with milling capabilities. 5-axis mill-turn machines Surface and cylindrical grinding Skilled in troubleshooting precision machining processes and equipment Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
