Behavioral Health Therapist (Licensed) (Jails) . Job Description Arlington County's Department of Human Services (DHS) seeks a Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist to serve as the primary Diversion Clinician. This role involves managing diversion efforts at the Arlington County Detention Facility (ACDF), providing jail-based restoration to competency services, and crisis management for incarcerated individuals. The therapist will collaborate with booking staff, arresting officers, and magistrates to identify individuals with mental health concerns who meet ECO criteria. Our DHS team is committed to delivering client services that are effective, equitable, respectful, and trauma-informed, considering factors like cultural identity, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, physical and cognitive abilities, sexual orientation, and linguistic needs. Responsibilities Conduct ECO evaluations to assess diversion potential before facility intake. Coordinate with the Bond Diversion clinician for diversion after intake. Participate in staffing and planning meetings for diversion programs. Enhance services within the diversion continuum. Serve as the primary contact for individuals brought into ACDF, triaging based on needs. Provide jail-based restoration to competency services. Qualifications Applicants must meet Virginia Department of Health Professions licensure guidelines. Levels of hire include: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Candidates with out-of-state licenses in related disciplines must obtain Virginia licensure within 90 days. Supervisees or residents in training must meet specific educational and licensure timeline requirements. Educational requirement: Master’s degree in a related clinical discipline with internships and practicum per Virginia standards. Preferred experience includes correctional setting work, case management, and bilingual skills (English/Spanish). Additional Requirements Background checks (criminal, driving, education, licensure, credit). Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one. No concurrent receipt of behavioral health services from Arlington County CSB while employed, with specific waiting periods. Work Conditions Shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays, with coverage 24/7 as needed. Primary location at Arlington County Detention Facility, with potential community-based work. Salary Licensed/Non-VA Licensed: $93,496 - $144,892.80 annually. Resident/Supervisee: $80,724 - $125,112 annually.
