Job Responsibilities
Gather proposals, construction drawings, and specifications Provide accurate detailed estimates for all projects Review construction documents and understand the scope of work to bid Prepare cost analysis by examining material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs occurred in heavy industry projects Utilize cost methods and data to submit estimates in a detailed breakdown format suitable for use by the project manager and the project team Must have the ability to explain details behind each estimate, including the basis of the man-hours allocated for each task, personnel resources needed to execute each task, etc. Flexibility when assessing & bidding multiple projects with the end result of either handing off or executing those projects Maintain lines of communications between company departments, project manager, and client with regards to cost estimating activities Work directly with individuals in the field offices as well as the other departments of the Corporate office to provide support
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or related field 3+ years in commercial construction, cost estimating or project management experience Ability to read and understand architectural/construction drawings and determine the scope of work from those drawings Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Projects, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat), organizational skills, time management, problem solving, accountability, data entry and attention to details are necessary Works well in a fast-paced industry Strong analytical skills Strong work ethic, detail oriented and energetic
