Job Title: Building Automation Assistant Project Manager Location: San Jose, CA Job Overview We seek a motivated and technically skilled Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of building automation controls projects in the San Jose, CA area. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth execution of smart-building systems that improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational performance. Working alongside senior project managers and field teams, you will help coordinate BAS project activities from planning through commissioning. Key Responsibilities Assist with planning, organizing, and managing building automation projects to ensure they stay on schedule, within budget, and meet project goals. Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, contractors, and customers to develop project plans and technical documentation. Assist with subcontractor management, scheduling, material procurement, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle. Attend project meetings and provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders on project progress and milestones. Help manage field installation, startup, testing, and commissioning of BAS systems including HVAC controls, lighting automation, and integration with third-party systems. Prepare and maintain key project documents, including RFIs, submittals, schedules, change orders, and closeout reports. Provide technical support to field teams, troubleshoot system issues, and help drive timely resolution of project roadblocks. Remain current on industry trends, technologies, and relevant codes and standards affecting building automation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Automation, Construction Management, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in project coordination or management within the building automation, MEP, or construction industry. Working knowledge of BAS platforms such as Tridium, Siemens, Schneider, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, or similar. Familiarity with HVAC systems, low-voltage controls, network integration, and system commissioning processes. Proficient with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD). Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. PMP certification or equivalent project management training is a plus. Why Join Us?
