Summary: The coordinator's role is to implement BARR within our 9th Grade Academy model. The coordinator works with teaching staff, administrators, school counselors, school social workers, support staff, families, and students.
Education/Experience: Current K-12 teaching license with the Minnesota Department of Education Five or more years of successful teaching experience Experience in developing and/or delivering teacher training and facilitation of teachers/school groups Instructional coaching or mentoring experience at any level, PreK-12+
Primary Responsibilities: Facilitate daily team time, which will include block meetings, data days, community connect meetings, and I-Time support. Actively encourage and embrace each member of the school community. Create a sense of support that fosters individual growth and the pursuit of learning. Continually work to understand your own assumptions and biases and how they impact the learning environment. Make a commitment to value and manage cultural uniquenesses and adapt education to meet the needs of each student. Prepare students to meet "the next challenge" through fostering confidence that comes from adventurous exploration and rigorous academics. Develop a culture of trust where students, families, and staff are all reflected in decisions that shape the learning environment. Foster student agency in a way that allows and encourages students to make choices that personalize their learning Build a day-to-day experience that leads students to their passion and purpose. Build strong relationships with students and families around engagement, attendance, academic, and social-emotional behavior.
Professional Development and Training Participate in professional development for the Building Assets Reducing Risks (BARR) model. Participate in ongoing coaching with BARR Participate in ongoing coaching visits with the BARR coach Participate in professional development planning. Coach and provide support to teachers in evidence-based practices to support multilingual learners Supprt the 9th Grade Academy with progress monitoring and instructional practices rooted in evidence-based practices Provide leadership, plan, and facilitate team meetings and curriculum development sessions
Instructional Coaching Provide leadership, plan, and facilitate i-time, big block and small block meetings around the BARR model. Work strategically with teachers in planning, monitoring, and assessing student learning, and reflecting on their teaching. Regularly visit classrooms to provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional planning, delivery, and assessment.
Data Collection, Analysis, and Management Gather and maintain data from various sources, including student information systems such as Synergy, Schoology,, and eduCLIMBER, as well as from various standardized assessments Develop and implement data management protocols to ensure accurate and timely data pulls. Analyze educational data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in student achievement and program effectiveness. Create comprehensive reports, visualizations, and dashboards that convey data insights to the academy staff, stakeholders, and building administrators. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and external partners to identify data needs and provide insights that drive instructional operational improvement within the academy. Support the implementation of data-based decision-making practices throughout the academy.
