Business Analyst - AI & Data Analytics Focus Location: Alexandria, VA (Hybrid work options available) Clearance Required: Must be able to attain and maintain a Public TrustWe are seeking a Business Analyst to join our dynamic team in support of the Enterprise Data Analytics program for a federal agency. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in traditional business analysis along with a background in AI-driven projects, including working with data science teams, AI applications, or intelligent automation initiatives. Responsibilities/DutiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and stakeholders, to capture and translate business needs into functional and technical requirements for AI-driven solutions.Support functional testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts, including validation of AI/ML model outputs and system integration testing.Conduct interviews, workshops, process reviews, and surveys to determine functional and end-user requirements.Lead documentation and analysis of business processes and identify areas where AI technologies (e.g., NLP, intelligent automation, predictive analytics) can improve operations.Gather and document reporting requirements from business owners and end users and work with BI developers on wireframes and mockups.Perform data analysis using SQL and work with architects to provide input to data models and ETL processes, especially for AI model training and evaluation.Manage and refine user stories and backlog items, especially those related to AI/ML lifecycle.Ensure that AI solutions align with business objectives, are explainable, and comply with data governance and ethical standards. Experience and Qualifications6+ years of experience in business analysis and requirements gathering, including 1-2 years supporting AI or data science projects.Strong understanding of Agile development environments.Experience with JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar collaboration tools.Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.Familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as supervised learning, NLP, classification, and model evaluation.Exposure to AI tools and applications such as chatbots, intelligent document processing, or predictive analytics platforms.Excellent communication skills-able to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Experience with BI tools (e.g., OBIEE, Tableau, IBM Cognos, Business Objects) is a plus.Federal project experience and/or familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) is preferred. Education/CertificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.Scrum Master certification is a plus.Certifications in AI/ML, data analytics, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) are a strong plus.
