Some of your responsibilities will include: Assisting with personal hygiene, including bathing, brushing teeth, toileting, and changing linens Helping patients with mobility, repositioning, and transfers Monitoring and recording vital signs Documenting important information in patient charts Providing compassionate care, including support for patients nearing the end of life This role involves exposure to bodily fluids and dynamic and sensitive situations. Unit Description: The Stepdown unit is a 16 bed unit specializing in the care of the ICU Stepdown patient. This unit cares for complex medical surgical patients, cardiac patients, stroke overflow, sepsis and other diagnoses including patients requiring management of cardiac drips or closer monitoring. The Stepdown unit provides central monitoring services to Gateway Hospital and The Heart Hospital. Our nurses receive training in ACLS, NIHSS, Basic Dysrhythmia, 12 Lead EKG and Stepdown Standards of Care. The Stepdown unit offers a variety of experiences, nurses who are always in a learning/teaching model, and an excited and motivated staff! Team work is key on this busy unit as we provide high quality patient care. Certifications: Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire Basic Dysrhythmia Class, within six months of hire Optional Advanced Splinting Class Education and Experience: Require the completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) and be 18 years of age Successfully completes: PCT class as required by care center/unit Hospital required classes and competencies
