Akima Infrastructure Protection (AIP), an Akima company, is looking for a Cook II to work in Miami, FL. The Cook II performs a variety of tasks concerned with the preparation and serving of food and beverages. Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Cook II include: Supervising Cook I and Foodservice Workers Preparing in quantities, by various methods of cooking a variety of foods including soups, sauces, meats, fish, vegetables, baked goods, etc. Preparing foods for special diets Planning cooking schedules so food is ready at prescribed times Ensuring delivery of food at the prescribed times Providing the measuring, mixing, and stirring, cutting, grinding, chopping and seasoning of ingredients according to recipes Testing foods for completion of cooking time and adjusting heat controls Monitoring the baking, roasting, broiling, frying and steaming of foods as called for in recipes Monitoring the carving and dividing of portions into individual servings Assisting in the equipment training of detainees Monitoring daily operations in food productions for conformance to establish quality, quantity, safety and sanitation requirements Reviewing menus to determine type and quantity of food to be prepared Drawing required cooking utensils from kitchen storage areas Loading and unloading delivery trucks as necessary Performing other duties as assigned Qualifications
The qualifications for the Cook II position include: US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record) Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements At least 21 years of age A high school diploma or equivalent required Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public Capability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials Proven ability to exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities Preferred Qualifications
