Position Summary
:
Reporting to the Director of Digital Communications, working closely with the Creative Operations Manager, the Design Manager creates visual solutions to communicate the firm’s brand strategy, visual identity, and key messages. They should apply imaginative flair and commercial awareness to conceptualize and design various media and formats while upholding the firm brand identity using the design guidelines.
This person will manage vendor collaborations and outside design agencies. They will maintain the project database for graphics, and will be responsible for ensuring all projects are entered and tracked throughout the lifecycle, and to provide any useful analytics to help improve processes and improve efficiencies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with design agency on evolving overall creative direction and then uphold brand standards within the creative team as a whole Work on specific projects to implement the visual direction of the brand, for example for a new website Manage vendor collaborations (e.g. online store, printing) Manage our image library and coordinate video shoots, headshots, and special projects Conduct image research and sourcing
Qualifications:
Must be a creative thinker with acute sense of design, aesthetic eye, imaginative flair and intellectual curiosity. Must have firm grounding in design principles. Must be a driven and passionate designer possessing both awareness of visual arts trends and commercial savvy. Must have solid experience designing corporate/organizational identity materials, with willingness and flexibility to take fresh approaches and be inventive. Thoughtful, intuitive design style, and an eye for clean, photography-driven design strongly preferred. Highly organized, detail oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills – and at all stages of technical/design experience. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of people and departments. Must have rigorous attention to process and detail, with overall pride of workmanship. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment working under pressure and prioritizing competing responsibilities within tight deadlines without sacrificing quality. Must have excellent project management, organization and planning abilities, including use of project management software such as Asana or similar. Must be self-motivated and able to both lead a team, work individually and collaborate with teammates.
Education:
College degree preferred, preferably in graphic design, fine arts, print production or comparable field
Experience:
6+ years of experience in graphic design, fine arts, print and/or web production preferably in the Marketing department of a law firm, large corporation/organization, advertising agency, or medium/large design firm.

The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
New York Salary Range
