Description The Cybersecurity Awareness Training Consultant is responsible for managing the agency’s information security awareness program. This includes planning and coordinating awareness campaigns, drafting publications, managing intranet content, and evaluating techniques and resources. The role also involves developing internal communication strategies to engage employees and support the agency’s strategic imperatives.
Basic Functions
Support the administration of the cybersecurity awareness program and campaigns.
Develop and maintain security awareness training activities.
Support communication efforts to build cybersecurity awareness.
Collect and report on program metrics.
Identify appropriate training and awareness activities.
Understand organizational needs to produce relevant communication strategies.
Support internal communication strategies that align with company vision and culture.
Coordinate with ITS Security and other departments.
Draft, review, and edit publications for intranet content.
Partner with departments and leadership on communication and change management.
Prepare process steps and evidentiary materials for auditors and stakeholders.
Work with external vendors for materials production and delivery.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
Basic knowledge of information security and risk mitigation principles.
5+ years in IT Security communications and marketing strategies.
3+ years supporting and delivering cybersecurity awareness programs.
Strong experience in operations or business support roles.
Familiarity with communication channels and technology tools such as Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Intranets, LMS.
Skills in strategic planning, project management, and process improvement.
Understanding of data security and privacy laws.
Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Skills
Training, communication, or content development experience.
Exposure to cybersecurity concepts and standards.
Technical writing skills.
Knowledge of project management methodologies.
Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
Experience in strategy, technology, and change management with consulting firms.
Certification in Change Management (e.g., Prosci).
