candidates Position Summary:
A well-established hospital laboratory is seeking a qualified
Cytotechnologist
to support their pathology team. The candidate will be responsible for screening and interpreting gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens and assisting in
FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration)
procedures for immediate adequacy evaluations. The role requires high attention to detail, strong documentation, and strict adherence to regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Screen and evaluate
gynecologic specimens
using
Hologic ThinPrep Analyze and document
non-gynecologic
specimens; enter findings in
Epic Participate in
ultrasound/CT-guided FNA
procedures for rapid adequacy evaluation Maintain QA records, workload logs, and regulatory documentation Accurately accession, identify, and process all cytology specimens Ensure compliance with
NY State ,
Joint Commission ,
HIPAA , and
infection control
standards Maintain
continuing education
(minimum 24 hours per year) Oversee
slide/block retention
and manage send-outs Assist with instrument maintenance and lab operations Perform other assigned laboratory duties as needed Requirements: Active New York State Cytotechnologist License Certification in
Hologic ThinPrep Imager and Review Scope Minimum
1 year of cytology experience Experience with
Epic
(preferred) Familiarity with
Hologic ThinPrep technology Previous travel experience
