Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement responsive and accessible user interfaces for web and mobile applications used in military healthcare and medical readiness environments. Conduct user research with military end-users to understand workflows, pain points, and mission-critical requirements. Develop wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, and final UI elements using modern design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.). Collaborate with engineers to integrate UX designs into both front-end and back-end environments using frameworks such as React, Angular, Node.js, or .NET Core. Implement AI-driven features (e.g., chatbots, recommendation engines, predictive analytics visualizations) to enhance the user experience. Build and maintain RESTful APIs, and contribute to backend development tasks that support dynamic, data-driven UX components. Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards, DoD cybersecurity policies, and DHA usability guidelines. Participate in Agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning, design reviews, and backlog grooming. Conduct usability testing and apply design thinking to iteratively improve features and functions. Maintain design system libraries and promote consistency across platforms using tools like USWDS and custom DHA design systems.
Required Qualifications:
Secret clearance eligibility DoD 8570-compliant cybersecurity certifications Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field—or equivalent work experience. 3+ of UI/UX design experience Demonstrated full stack experience, including: - Front-end: HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular - Back-end: Node.js, .NET Core, Python or similar - RESTful APIs and data integratio Experience incorporating AI/ML-driven components into user-facing applications or working alongside AI/ML development teams. Strong knowledge of HCD, usability testing, and user research practices. Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure). Understanding of FHIR, HL7, and data interoperability standards in healthcare. Familiarity with DoD-specific UI/UX standards and USWDS. Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and Jira/Confluence tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in telehealth, behavioral health, or operational medicine applications. Knowledge of DoD AI initiatives, including JAIC, and how AI supports operational decision-making. 2+ years supporting DoD, DHA, or other government healthcare IT systems. Experience developing or integrating AI features (e.g., predictive modeling dashboards, NLP-based tools) into healthcare systems. Understanding of data visualization tools and libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js, or Power BI). Certifications such as: - Certified Usability Analyst (CUA)- NNG UX Certification - AI/ML certifications (e.g., Microsoft AI Fundamentals, Coursera AI Specialization)
