Senior Bi Developer
Groundworks is seeking a talented Senior BI Developer to join our tribe in Virginia Beach, VA! The Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will be responsible for building impactful dashboards and reports based on a curated analytics data model, using SQL to extract and transform data. The Sr. BI Developer is skilled in understanding business needs, translating requirements into technical solutions, and delivering user-friendly insights. Job Responsibilities
Design and develop Power BI dashboards and data visualizations. Write efficient SQL queries to extract and analyze data from a curated analytics model. Collaborate with analytics engineers to ensure availability and quality of data. Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and iterate on dashboards. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance in all reports. Support ongoing improvements in BI governance, documentation, and visualization standards. Manage Power BI workspaces and report artifacts (datasets, dataflows, etc.). Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a Business Intelligence or data visualization role. Advanced skills in Power BI, including DAX and dashboard design. Proficient in SQL for querying and transforming structured data. Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate business logic into reporting metrics. Familiarity with data modeling principles (e.g., star schema, fact/dimension tables). Preferred: Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehouses. Preferred: Experience working with other modern data visualization tools like Sigma. Preferred: Exposure to dbt (Data Build Tool) or similar ELT frameworks. Preferred: Experience working with Git or other version control systems. Understanding of analytics engineering and data transformation best practices. The Sr. BI Developer will work out of the Corporate offices in Virginia Beach and will not require travel. Must be able to work extended hours during peak processing or project periods. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the workday. Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, and copier. Visual and auditory ability to read and interpret information and communicate effectively with others.
