As a Data Center Design Lead, you will have a significant impact on all facets of data center design, construction, and equipment qualification. Collaborating with internal and external teams, you will define, design, and execute complex infrastructure projects that bolster AWS's worldwide footprint. Your leadership will ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards for quality, reliability, and efficiency, while driving innovation in our design and construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead cross-disciplinary project teams to deliver data center designs within budget and on schedule.
Oversee the comprehensive equipment qualification process, ensuring alignment among teams and adherence to technical, operational, safety, quality, reliability, and business standards globally.
Develop and maintain scalable solutions to integrate diverse teams and ensure that all power and cooling equipment undergo necessary qualification testing.
Collaborate with architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical teams, and manage relationships with material suppliers to produce high-quality designs supporting favorable business outcomes.
Manage interactions with internal stakeholders, operations teams, and external consultants.
Drive innovation in design and construction processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Create and maintain global best practice documentation.
Monitor project metrics related to schedule, budget, and quality.
Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction reviews, and interactions with design consultants, with anticipated travel not exceeding 25%. International travel may be necessary.

The Data Center Design Engineering team at AWS comprises Architects, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection, and Controls Engineers who are dedicated to designing next-generation Data Centers. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
6+ years of design experience in commercial, industrial, or other complex technical projects.
5+ years of experience in mission-critical facility design or technical program management.
3+ years of project management experience, focusing on scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
10+ years of experience in data center design, construction, or operations.
Strong knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to communicate complex technical issues to senior leadership or non-engineers, develop financial projections for business cases, and create performance metrics.
