Business Intelligence Engineer III Business Intelligence Engineer III Job Description The Everyday Essentials Shopping team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer III to transform raw data into actionable insights that shape how customers engage with products and build their shopping baskets. This role focuses on automating data solutions and reporting, surfacing customer engagement metrics, and enabling scalable decision-making across retail experiences. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain scalable dashboards, metrics, and analytics to understand customer engagement and relevance of shopping experiences. Build data visualizations in Excel and Quicksight to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Define and gather business requirements to design schemas, build pipelines, validate data, and support reporting needs. Translate business problems into analytical plans, conduct exploratory analysis, and form testable hypotheses. Conduct deep-dive analyses on customer behavior trends, feature usage, and unusual data patterns. Become a subject matter expert on relevant data sources and metrics; recommend enhancements and standardization. Develop self-service tools and documentation for business and technical stakeholders. Audit and optimize existing SQL queries and ETL jobs. Troubleshoot operational or data quality issues across pipelines. Top Required Skills SQL Expertise (3+ years) - Complex query writing, optimization, and data manipulation across large datasets. Data Visualization (3+ years) - Dashboard creation using Excel, Tableau, or Quicksight. Data Modeling/ETL Development (3+ years) - Schema design and pipeline development for reporting and production use. Skills & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in BI, computer science, statistics, math, engineering, or related field. 3+ years analyzing large datasets using Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc. Experience building recurring reports, business dashboards, and ETL processes. Ability to perform basic statistical analysis and communicate data insights clearly. Strong collaboration skills working with PMs, engineers, and data stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in a quantitative or business field. Experience in e-Commerce or retail, especially analyzing customer behavior. Scripting experience (Python, R, SAS, Matlab). Familiarity with AWS tools such as S3, EC2, Redshift. Exposure to machine learning or predictive modeling.
