Role: Data Network Engineer 2 (Data Engineer) Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid: On-site Tuesday-Thursday) Duration: 08/25/2025 – 06/30/2026 (Contract)
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks. Implement medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for data lifecycle management. Migrate and decommission legacy SQL-based and SSRS systems, ensuring smooth transition. Create and manage data transformation notebooks (Fabric Notebooks, Databricks) using Python, SQL, Spark. Develop and deliver curated datasets and analytics models for Power BI dashboards/reports. Build dimensional and real-time data models for analytics use cases. Collaborate with data analysts, stewards, and business stakeholders to deliver data assets. Apply data governance policies (row-level security, masking, classification) using tools like Microsoft Purview or Unity Catalog. Ensure workflow monitoring, logging, and automate CI/CD with Azure DevOps. Provide support during data migration and cutover, ensuring minimal disruption.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably in government or regulated environments. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Dataflows, Pipelines, Notebooks, OneLake). Experience in Power BI data modeling and dashboard/report development. Familiarity with data governance tools (Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog). Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and schema design. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer or Azure Data Engineer Associate. Experience with CI/CD automation (Azure DevOps). Knowledge of data security/compliance (FIPS 199, NIST). Experience with legacy system sunset and modernization (SSRS).

Summary
This role will drive the modernization of data estate, supporting migration from legacy systems and building scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
