Join Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Data Scientist II in the Managed Operations Data Science (MODS) Team!

The AWS Managed Operations organization aims to streamline operational tasks through long-term engineering projects, with a focus on enhancing the availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of AWS regions.
As a member of the MODS Team, you'll lead research initiatives to drive the data and insight strategy for AWS. You will be expected to act as a Full Stack Data Scientist, overseeing the entire data science lifecycle from data exploration and ETL to model development.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Relationships:
Partner with business and software teams to understand requirements and operational processes. Data Exploration and Analysis:
Conduct thorough exploratory data analysis to uncover data patterns and insights using statistical techniques. Business Insights and Recommendations:
Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations that align with the organization’s strategic goals. Data Pipeline and Infrastructure:
Help design and implement data pipelines and lakes to support our data-driven initiatives. Metric Development and Monitoring:
Develop and monitor advanced metrics and KPIs that reflect operational complexity and strategic objectives. Prototype Development:
Create models using programming languages like Python or R, working with software teams to transition prototypes into production. Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
Maintain clear technical documentation and engage in continuous process enhancements. A typical day at AWS includes: Engaging with diverse teams to solve complex business challenges. Leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies like SQL, Python, Spark, and various machine learning frameworks. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of experience as a data scientist. Proficient in data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical software (e.g., R, SAS). Experience in machine learning and statistical modeling techniques. Master's Degree in a quantitative field with appropriate experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with additional years of experience. Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years of data science experience. Experience with clustered data processing tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark). A background in a large technology company in a data science role. Location: This position requires U.S. citizenship.
