Salary: $67 - $70 hr Clearance Requirement: DoD Secret Clearance Location: Govt Site in Annapolis, MD and/or Fort Meade, ME Must-Haves Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance 7+ years of experience as a SQL DBA Familiar with Oracle databases to maintain environment prior to migrating into SQL environment Experience implementing security patches, STIGs, etc. Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field Job Description This candidate will demonstrate expertise in the design, development, and administration of complex database management systems (DBMS), including system analysis, object-oriented design, and enterprise data/process modeling. The candidate will support all SQL and Oracle databases within the environment. Additional tasks include: Assist in database design using activity/data modeling, transaction flow, internal control, risk analysis, and performance measurement techniques. Monitor production (primary and backup) database server performance, system, user access/security logs, and asset logs, and coordinate necessary actions with team members and stakeholders. Manage all database administration activities, including long-range planning, resource allocation, backup/recovery, security hardening, and replication. Perform startup/shutdown sequences, patching, upgrades, and version management for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL databases. Implement database security in alignment with CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, FIPS 140-2, and other compliance standards. Configure PKI, SSL/TLS, and integrate with authentication services (LDAP, Active Directory, OpenID, OAuth2, SAML). Check vendor sites for updates and security patches, and coordinate scheduled outages for timely patching of development and production servers. Manage databases within VMware (vSphere, vCloud Director, KVM), VDI environments (HorizonView, RDP, SSH, SSM), and commercial cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, IL6, Azure Government). Monitor Oracle to SQL database ETL transactions, notify stakeholders, and schedule remediation actions. Manage failover/failback and sync recovery procedures for high-availability environments. Coordinate with developers, engineers, and system admins to schedule and execute database operations. Write detailed SOPs, workflows, and security documentation for junior DBAs and operational transparency. Respond to ISSO/ISSM and stakeholder questions regarding DISA STIG/SRG compliance, MITRE CVEs, and IAVA applicability. Support developers with storage/retrieval optimization, recommending database features and configurations for performance and scalability Create scripts to automate preventive and corrective actions. Deliver presentations and written reports on DBMS concepts, tradeoffs, and strategic recommendations. Monitor database disk space utilization and take action to prevent stoppage due to insufficient space. Advise stakeholders, peers, and government clients on actions taken and future needs related to database systems. Assist product dev teams with custom SQL queries, data elements, schema, tables, indexes, triggers, and technical database questions. Perform database disaster recovery operations to include failover/failback to ensure data and system availability to user community within established SLA timelines.
