Mercer University's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is searching for a Patient Experience Coordinator.
Responsibilities :
Working under the supervision of the Center for IDD Care Nurse Manager, the Patient Experience Coordinator serves as a vital support to patients and their families as they navigate the complexities of illness, injury, disability, trauma, or hospitalization. This position is focused on addressing the psychosocial needs of patients, including mental, emotional, and social aspects, to ensure a compassionate and supportive care environment. The Patient Experience Coordinator functions as a bridge between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, with a special focus on patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Qualifications:
REVISED QUALIFICATIONS AS OF 8/5/2025
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or an associate's or bachelor's degree in behavioral health, psychology, social work, or a related field and six months of related experience are required. Candidates must have experience with EMR, Microsoft Products, and be CPR certified.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong understanding of psychosocial and behavioral principles, particularly as they relate to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations.
Ability to manage emotionally charged situations with empathy and professionalism.
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in using electronic medical records and standard office software.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Medical terminology skills.
Knowledge of CMS and Medicaid regulations regarding healthcare access and community-regulated programs for patients with disabilities.
Ability to work independently to develop plans for patents prior to and during their medical and/or dental encounters.
