This is a customer interfacing position whose primary function is translating customer IT services requirements into customer solutions/contracts that secure customer loyalty, drive acceptable profit margins and are delivered with fidelity. The Solution Architect writes and owns the supporting statements of work on behalf of NCR Services and is chartered with identifying and mitigating deal risks from opportunity qualification through negotiation. Understanding NCR’s standard service offers and service delivery capabilities is a requirement. In addition, the individual must possess a strong operational background within the desired industry. The Solution Architect role requires strong project management skills and leadership in a dynamic and deadline driven environment. On average, a Solution Architect is typically working approximately (15) opportunities simultaneously. The scope of this position is all about solving problems. When NCR is able to sell a solution using standard pricing and terms, Solution Architect engagement is not needed. However, most deals contain non-standard requests - - it is this position's responsibility to qualify and develop a solution that is mutually acceptable to the client and NCR. Analytics come into play with like bid pricing, cost assumptions, and understanding the P&L impact from operational decisions. Creativity is needed to show the client that NCR understands their business need and has a solution that may be different from their original request, but still meets or exceeds their core business needs. Most importantly, this position has direct impact on revenue and cost of delivery. This position is chartered to assist sales with growing the revenue (within existing and new accounts) and ensuring the integrity of the NCR Services operation is not compromised. This position provides thought leadership around market-based pricing strategies and is fully accountable for the operational and legal terms agreed to in the services agreement and SOW. Solution design of Service Opportunities
- Typically works deals > $1.0 million/ multi service offer deals.
- Collect and understand customer requirements.
- Engage subject matter experts (SMEs) as required and manage SME resource team to assist with solution costing/ development.
- Ensure the appropriate due diligence is carried out both with the client and within the proposed NCR delivery organization.
- Call out non-standard terms and conditions during design process and mitigate risks.
- Liase closely with pricing analysts to ensure operational commitments are translated accurately into cost assumptions. Bid Review/ Customer Presentation Support
- Provide sales team with technical and service presales support.
- Prepare and deliver services presentations to current and prospective customers.
- Understand market-based price and apply knowledge to optimize NCR price positioning. Own Statement of Work/ Contracting Process
- Drafts and manages any necessary contracts using NCR standard templates, modifying if necessary to reflect any non-standard terms and conditions approved per the Bid Review process.
- Owns approval of non-standard terms & conditions.
- Negotiates directly with customers and contractors.
- Has direct impact on NCR win-rate through strong personal negotiation skills.
- Complete and certify Risk Compliance Sign Off Memo.
- Engage and handoff to Service Assumption
- Regularly assumes informal leadership role within cross-function teams.
- Participates as SME on certain offers. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree highly preferred but may be replaced with successful career progression
- Ability to work under tight timelines in a demanding environment.
- 4-8 years related operational experience.
- Evaluates risk independently and propose contingency plans.
- Good business acumen and ability to negotiate up-sell and margin improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
