Seeking an Engineering Director to lead a Hardware Engineering team supporting a large product and program portfolio. The Director will lead a team of 160+ engineers and managers, coordinating all hardware engineering needs for the site and directing engineering execution for programs, proposals, and pursuits. This role reports to the Vice President of Engineering.

Job Description
Seeking an Engineering Director to lead a Hardware Engineering team supporting a large product and program portfolio. The Director will lead a team of 160+ engineers and managers, coordinating all hardware engineering needs for the site and directing engineering execution for programs, proposals, and pursuits. This role reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
Essential Functions

• Create vision and strategy, and execute plans to build a best-in-class engineering team.
• Coordinate all hardware engineering support (personnel, lab resources, tools) for programs and product development.
• Track engineering demand and ensure the team is properly sized, skilled, and equipped.
• Direct technical, schedule, and cost performance for engineering programs.
• Review and approve proposals, key technical decisions, and engineering program reviews.
• Mentor and provide growth opportunities for engineering and management staff.
• Foster a culture of innovation aligned with business strategy and technology roadmaps.
• Define next-generation systems through technical leadership.
• Attract, retain, and grow top talent while fostering a collaborative and transparent culture.
• Align resources with business priorities and identify optimal utilization strategies.
• Support execution and performance relative to the Annual Operating Plan.
• Serve as a respected, hands-on engineering leader.
• Collaborate with business development and program management on strategy and execution.
• Approve technical solutions for programs and proposals.
• Review and approve cost estimates and schedules.
• Manage program content to meet performance, budget, and schedule targets.
  

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of related experience.
• Graduate degree with a minimum of 13 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, 19 years of prior related experience.
  

• Advanced degree in Engineering and/or Management.
• Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in the defense industry.
• Demonstrated technical leadership for large, complex programs.
• Experience managing engineering content of major proposals.
• System-level development expertise, including requirements analysis and risk mitigation.
• Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
• Strong problem-solving and judgment capabilities.
• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to establish trust and credibility across teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with wireless communication systems and components (antennas, RF, PCB, CCA, CAD).
• Leadership experience in embedded software, analog/digital hardware projects.
• Cross-functional engineering team leadership.
• Ability to deliver technical briefings to executive stakeholders.
• Experience managing multiple management layers.
  

• Antenna, RF, PCB, Electrical or Mechanical background
• DoD, defense experience
• Successful execution of programs.
