Job Overview – Director of Accounting Operations – 33754
Our client is seeking a driven and highly organized
Director of Accounting - Operations
to lead theirU.S. operational accounting function. This leadership role oversees general ledger, inventory accounting, and regulatory compliance, while playing a critical role in audit readiness and financial reporting. You’ll lead a team of professionals, partner cross-functionally across departments, and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings, and margin improvements through insightful financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and ensure timely, accurate execution of the U.S. month-end close process.
Lead general ledger and operational accounting activities including inventory accounting and regulatory filings.
Develop and optimize team structures, workflows, and processes to align with business objectives.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Supply Chain, and Procurement to resolve accounting issues and improve financial outcomes.
Lead and manage internal and external audit engagements, serving as the primary point of contact.
Drive continuous improvement across accounting systems and processes.
Provide strategic financial insights to business leaders to support decision-making and drive margin expansion.
Support system upgrades and implementations with a focus on financial process optimization.
Mentor, coach, and develop accounting operations team members.
Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
8+ years of progressive experience in accounting operations, including team leadership.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks.
Experience in a complex, fast-paced environment; distribution or manufacturing industry experience a plus.
Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with Infor SX.e and Workday Adaptive is a plus.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and manage through change.
