Summary The Director of Attorney Recruitment is responsible for overseeing the firm's recruitment resources, emphasizing strategic lateral recruitment, developing and implementing the strategic direction, designing workflows to prioritize, identify, and integrate attorneys into the firm. This includes lateral attorney recruiting, oversight, assistance, and integration of associate recruitment, programs, and other professional recruitment initiatives. The position is part of the firm’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and will have high visibility across all levels. All recruitment resources and coordinators will ultimately report to this position, which reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Required Responsibilities Establish attorney recruitment goals by developing a framework for prioritizing and evaluating recruitment efforts in collaboration with Department Administrators, the Hiring and Compensation Committee, and office managing and hiring partners. Manage all attorney applicants through the recruitment process and establish onboarding and retention workflows in coordination with Human Resources to improve attorney retention rates. Develop interview techniques, training, and evaluation forms for different attorney categories, including competencies. Implement attorney interview training to ensure meaningful and consistent candidate information gathering. Collaborate with the CFO and Controller to develop a financial evaluation process that helps prioritize recruitment needs. Other Responsibilities Promote best practices in professional recruitment and retention by establishing consistent offer letters, files, and follow-up procedures. Manage the exit interview process, analyze results, and report findings to improve recruiting and retention strategies. Education, Experience, and Skills Required J.D. or BA/BS degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in legal recruitment; knowledge of HR management, employee relations, professional development, and compensation is necessary. Proven success in a large AmLaw firm or equivalent, with experience scaling recruitment efforts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills at all levels, and the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a high-performance legal recruitment team. Knowledge of attorney recruiting practices, sources, and standards. Proficiency in technology, business applications, and social media. Willingness to travel as required by the firm. Physical Requirements Sitting frequently, up to six hours per day, with static sitting for up to half an hour at a time. Occasional bending and stooping.
