The Role: Director - Accounting Policy
We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware
Director of Accounting Policy
to join the Group Finance team. This role will play a key part in interpreting and implementing accounting standards, supporting business units with complex transactions, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, including M&A, structured finance, and new product initiatives. Monitor and interpret changes in IFRS and other relevant accounting standards, assessing their impact on the business. Draft and maintain accounting policy documentation and ensure consistent application across the group. Partner with internal stakeholders including Group Reporting, Risk, Legal, and Business Units to provide accounting insights and support. Support external reporting processes and liaise with auditors and regulators as needed.
Key Requirements
Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, CPA) with significant post-qualification experience in technical accounting or policy roles. Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience in a complex, regulated environment (e.g., banking, insurance, or financial services). Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders. Experience working in a matrixed organization or across multiple jurisdictions is advantageous.
