Job Summary:
The Director of Engineering (DoE) ensures proper, continuous operations at the property. The role provides leadership and guidance to personnel in maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components, including but not limited to mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, and other equipment/work for the hotel. This role also provides leadership to maximize assets, drive guest satisfaction, support business performance, and enhance Hotel brands. Additionally, the role defines and presents opportunities for operational improvement, evaluates risks, works within an area of expertise to provide effective solutions, and implements systems and processes that leverage and support enterprise strategies to maximize engineering performance. The DoE also oversees the safety and security of guests, staff and hotel property, developing and implementing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing security staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Plans and coordinates the work of engineering and security staff Oversees engineering staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Provides training and mentoring as needed. Work with payroll system to ensure staff is paid accurately on a weekly basis Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversees progress and timeliness of projects in the Hotel Reviews project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. Gives priority to guests' requests or complaints Takes part in weekly meetings with ownership to report issues/progress Performs other related duties as required. Administration:
Develops an engineering operating strategy that is aligned with the property/brand's business strategy. Develops and manages Engineering/security budget. Addresses potential areas of concern and proposes solutions to owners in a proactive manner. Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results. Ensures compliance with State, Local and Federal regulations Ensures building and equipment licenses, permits and certifications are current Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently Requirements:
Experience working with one/multiple CMMS systems (computerized maintenance management systems) Capex Budget and engineering/facilities operations budget preparation Flexibility to work in different properties in a temporary basis as required by Rebel knowledge of property specific mechanical design, I.e, building HVAC loop detailed knowledge of operations and maintenance of WSHP (water source heat pumps) used in guest rooms and public areas Detailed knowledge and understanding of sprinkler/standpipe systems. And kitchen fire suppression systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent managerial and supervisory skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development. Excellent financial skills and ability to analyze financial data. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Experience collaborating with union teams and third-party vendors. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. At least five years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a two-year college degree and three or more years of related experience; or a four-year college degree and at least two years of related experience. Current Certification as required by Federal, State or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (i.e., HVAC, pool operation, electrical), property specific. Current Fire Life Safety Directors certification required, building specific certificate due within 6 months of hire. Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state. Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests. Salary Range:
$110,000 - 120,000 annually
