Be Part of Who We Are! Position Summary The Director of IT Applications provides strategic, operational, and technical leadership for the enterprise application portfolio supporting clinical and business functions across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this role ensures that application solutions enhance patient care, optimize operational workflows, and align with the goals of Proliance Surgeons. The Director oversees internal Applications staff and serves as the liaison with external partners and vendors for systems infrastructure, security, and support services. The Director is accountable for IT roadmap development, application integration, vendor management, and team performance. This position plays a key leadership role in advancing application governance, system reliability, regulatory compliance, and service delivery across Proliance’s ambulatory and surgical care centers. Key Duties and Responsibilities The key duties and responsibilities of the IT Applications Director include, but are not limited to: Lead strategic planning, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-wide clinical and administrative applications. Develop and manage a long-term IT applications roadmap aligned with Proliance’s clinical, operational, and financial objectives. Serve as a strategic partner to operational and clinical leadership in identifying and deploying technology solutions that improve workflow efficiency and patient outcomes. Oversee the successful execution of system implementations, upgrades, and integrations across platforms such as EHR/EMR, practice management, and ancillary systems. Ensure adherence to healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, HITECH, and relevant compliance frameworks. Team Leadership & Operational Oversight Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the internal Applications team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability. Lead workforce planning, resource allocation, and professional development initiatives to ensure a high-performing, engaged applications team. Promote process improvement, change management, and knowledge sharing to enhance operational efficiency and project outcomes. Vendor and Partner Management Serve as the primary point of contact for all third-party vendors supporting IT applications, infrastructure, and security. Monitor performance against contractual SLAs and ensure service excellence through routine vendor evaluations and issue resolution. Lead vendor selection, contract negotiation, and relationship management to ensure strategic alignment and value delivery. Mitigate risks associated with outsourcing through proactive governance, compliance oversight, and business continuity planning. Governance, Compliance & Performance Measurement Establish and lead governance frameworks for application lifecycle management, including change control, testing, and user acceptance. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor application health, user satisfaction, vendor performance, and team productivity. Prepare and present regular status reports, dashboards, and recommendations to the CIO and senior leadership. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive IT experience, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role within healthcare IT or ambulatory settings. Demonstrated experience leading application strategy, governance, and support across complex healthcare environments. Strong knowledge of systems such as EHR/EMR, practice management, clinical documentation, and scheduling tools. Experience working with ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), orthopedic or ENT specialties preferred. Previous responsibility for vendor management, contract negotiation, and SLA governance is required. Relevant certifications (ITIL, PMP, CPHIMS, etc.) are highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Expertise in healthcare application architecture, workflows, and data integration. Deep understanding of system lifecycle development, testing methodologies, and implementation strategies. Proficiency in managing multi-site enterprise applications, migrations, and domain integrations. Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects and cross-functional teams. Familiarity with HL7, interface engines, SQL, and application reporting tools. Strong working knowledge of HIPAA security and privacy standards. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Skilled in developing technical and end-user documentation, training materials, and user guides. Ability to effectively present complex information to non-technical audiences, including clinical and executive leadership. Valid WA driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation for travel to Proliance sites as needed.
