Position Description
Hunter Industries Ltd., based in San Marcos, Texas, is a heavy highway and bridge construction company with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and innovation. We are currently seeking a Distributor Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate is responsible for operating the equipment used for applying asphalt to highways, roadways, or airport runways. This position requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Position Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Distributor to spread asphalt on roadbeds, driveways and intersections
- Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project
- Operates distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces
- Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill pressure tank with asphalt liquid
- Adhere to all safety protocols while operating heavy equipment and working on construction sites
- Regulates burner to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump
- Snap or screw on spray bars to attain required width of spray
- Regulate the flow of material at specified rate and adjust levers to height of spray bar from road surface
- Monitor flow gauges, tachometer and temperature gauge to ensure uniform distribution
- Perform daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order
- Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation
- Ability to travel and work away from home when required
- Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- 2 years' experience with oil distributor operator
- Possess a Class B CDL with HazMat/Tankers endorsements
- Experience with dump truck operation and commercial driving is essential.
- Strong skills in heavy equipment operation, including loaders and other machinery used in construction
- Ability to build effective working relationships with team members
- Familiarity with construction site protocols and safety regulations is required
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks to meet deadlines
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems in the field
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Must be willing to work weekends as needed
