This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Milford three times per week at minimum. The Role: The Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) Battery Systems Controls (BSC) department is responsible for end-to-end High Voltage Battery Systems Controls and Software products for all GM EV and (P)HEV; our scope covers requirement setting, controls, diagnostics, software, calibration development, and deployment. We are seeking an Engineering Group Manager for the High Voltage Battery Systems Controls team to lead requirements, controls, diagnostics, and software development supporting our expanding Electrification business. This leadership role involves overseeing specific technology and product areas, developing strategic directions, and leading execution aligned with business goals as we transition from auto manufacturing to a tech company. What You'll Do: Enable self-organizing, empowered teams to deliver HV Battery Systems Controls and Software products on time with quality, supporting strategy development and execution within an agile framework. Focus on HV Battery Management Systems’ communication, sensing, and signal integrity software development, testing, automation, and integration. Foster an environment of high performance, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. Mentor, coach, and develop employees and their careers. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field). Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience in embedded control systems, software, calibration, hardware, or safety-critical system development. Understanding of SW development processes and ability to navigate them to meet deliverables. Proven ability to lead complex, technical initiatives with cross-functional impact. Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills—able to coordinate multiple teams; strong organizational and stakeholder management skills. Ability to handle ambiguity and drive timely decisions. Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework. Preferred Skills: Master's in Engineering or Business Administration, or MS with a technical focus. 10+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems and safety-critical development. Leadership experience managing teams of engineers working on embedded controls or related hardware. Proven track record of achieving results through teamwork, managing multiple projects, and using metrics and data. Experience in Electrification domains. Deep understanding of embedded software, systems engineering, mechatronic architecture, testing automation, and build deployment. Experience managing global, dispersed teams.
