A-Line Staffing is now hiring a Firmware/Controls Engineer in Durham, NC. The Firmware/Controls Engineer would be working for a global medical device leader and has career growth potential. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, and the role is fully onsite. If you are interested in this Firmware/Controls Engineer position, please contact Lindsay at or 586-710-7959 Firmware/Controls Engineer Compensation • The pay for this position is $59.86 per hour • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates Firmware/Controls Engineer Highlights • This is a 6-month contract role with potential for extension and possible hire-on with the company • Onsite schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM • Relocation assistance not provided, but candidates outside of Durham who are able to relocate within 2 weeks at their own expense will be considered Firmware/Controls Engineer Responsibilities • Design, develop, and test all aspects of automation and robotic motion control systems • Perform kinematic analysis and develop control algorithms for robotic systems • Write and document code for motion control systems • Drive improvements in mechanical and electrical architecture related to control systems • Interface with vendors and internal legal teams regarding intellectual property • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company procedures • Occasional travel (1–2 trips per year) may be required Firmware/Controls Engineer Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (Master’s preferred) • 10+ years of experience in robotics and automation, including electro-mechanical design and software development • Experience with PLC programming and configuration • Hands-on experience with DC motor control and troubleshooting PLC systems • Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Beckhoff, Galil, Panasonic, and Allen Bradley • Working knowledge of regulatory standards: IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 • Must be comfortable working onsite in Durham, NC Firmware/Controls Engineer Preferred Qualifications • Proficiency in object-oriented programming (C#, C++) • Experience with .NET Framework and Standard Edition • Familiarity with UML state machine theory • Strong background in robotic control theory (servo systems, PID controllers) • Experience with cross-platform development and CAN bus networking Firmware/Controls Engineer Work Environment & Physical Demands • Primarily office-based role with computer work and occasional hands-on tasks • Must be able to sit for long periods, use a computer, and engage in repetitive motion • Occasionally required to lift or move items up to 30 pounds If you think this Firmware/Controls Engineer position is a good fit for you, please reach out to me – feel free to call, email, or apply to this posting!
