The Executive Director of Data & Production Technology is a visionary leader entrusted with shaping and realizing the Olberding Brand Family (OBF) vision for data, technology, and production systems. This role unites data and production technologies into a powerful, strategic capability, streamlining workflows, unlocking real-time insights, and sparking innovation that propels the business forward.
As the steward of both the Data Architecture & Intelligence and Production Technology functions, the Director ensures data is elevated as a strategic asset and production technology delivers excellence, efficiency, and a distinct competitive edge. This leader inspires a shift from reactive support to proactive, consultative partnership by leveraging technology to reimagine client experiences, transform operations, and strengthen our value proposition, all while fostering a culture of empowerment and accountability.
Working closely with Operations, IT, Client Engagement, and other partners, the Director leads transformative initiatives that inspire bold thinking, enable more informed decisions, and drive meaningful growth for the business and its clients.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Lead the development and implementation of a modern data and production technology architecture, ensuring alignment with business strategy Spearhead the creation of a unified, standardized OBF-wide data schema to enable seamless integration of business systems and workflows Oversee the migration and integration of client project and packaging data into a scalable data warehouse, and design and own the company’s data strategy Champion process automation & efficiency, identifying and implementing solutions that improve speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of both business and production workflows Ensure seamless integration of functions & systems, including digital workflows like data inputs, design, pre-media automation, 3D rendering, and color management Oversee the standardization, maintenance, and enhancement of specialized software, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and alignment with evolving business needs Develop and maintain enterprise-grade BI dashboards and real-time analytics, empowering stakeholders and clients with actionable insights and transparency Leverage data-driven insights to optimize processes, reduce waste, and drive measurable performance improvements Drive innovation through an industry-specific technology strategy, embracing advancements such as connected packaging, AI-driven automation, and emerging tools Stay current on the latest in AI technologies, assessing and applying them to enhance business intelligence, automation, and operational outcomes Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of PT infrastructure across both cloud and on-premises environments Champion change management, fostering awareness, enthusiasm, and adoption of new technologies while leading the cultural shift toward a more data-driven, efficient, and innovative organization Lead and develop cross-functional teams, building a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement Cultivate strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, technology vendors, and clients to align technology initiatives with business priorities and deliver excellence
Qualifications Include:
10+ years of experience in data architecture, production technology, business intelligence, or enterprise technology leadership roles, with a track record of strategic impact Proven expertise in digital production workflows, automation, and industry-specific technologies (e.g., connected packaging, 3D, color management) Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including both cloud-based and on-premises environments, and how to design secure, scalable, and integrated solutions Strong knowledge of AI/ML technologies and practical experience applying them to business intelligence, automation, or operational optimization Demonstrated success in designing and implementing enterprise data platforms (data warehouse, data lake, or lakehouse) and integrating complex systems Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, ThoughtSpot), cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), middleware, and ETL/ELT processes Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical vision into business impact Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead change, inspire teams, and engage stakeholders
