We are seeking a Data Scientist (Monetization Products) to drive high-impact results for a bestselling game. Responsibilities include analyzing data to inform the Studios' subscription and monetization strategies, partnering with business and engineering teams, and developing analyses that identify key drivers of acquisition, engagement, and retention. The team supports multiple business lines for a large gaming studio and works directly with product owners. This role involves supporting data analytics for subscription products and marketplace projects, with a focus on analytics support for new features and onboarding. Presenting insights to stakeholders and product teams is a key aspect. The role comprises approximately 80% heads-down analysis (dashboarding, reporting, statistical analysis) and 20-30% meetings for collaboration and presentation. Job Responsibilities
Understand project challenges and leverage data science to influence outcomes. Identify and preprocess relevant data sources. Design, develop, and deploy models using statistics, modeling, or machine learning. Provide feedback to product teams and identify future opportunities. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and validate perspectives. Utilize additional insights like User Research to enhance analysis. Deliver results independently on ambiguous projects. Candidate Requirements
8+ years of experience in the field. Preferred degrees/certifications: MIS, statistics, or MBA (not mandatory). Disqualifiers
Candidates focused solely on data engineering or database administration are not suitable. Heavy focus on machine learning is also a disqualifier. Preferred Skills & Experience
Significant experience with statistics, modeling, SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer. Experience in gaming industry or with subscriptions/monetization is a plus. Qualifications
8+ years in business analytics, especially related to subscriptions or monetization. 8+ years with SQL, familiarity with SparkSQL, Databricks, or Azure Data Explorer preferred. Proficiency in Python or PySpark. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Interest in gaming; local candidates in Seattle area preferred. Hard Skills & Assessment
