DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE (2 POSITIONS) THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Accounting and Finance is the second largest department in the College of Business and Economics with 14 full-time faculty, and it offers programs for undergraduate students (BS in Accounting and Analytics; BSBA with concentration in accounting and finance) as well as graduate students (MS in Accountancy and MBA in Finance). The BSAA program has about 360 students, the BSBA program has about 600 students with accounting concentration and about 200 students with finance concentration. The MSA is a cohort program with about 50 students, and the MBA in finance has about 20 students. DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
The responsibilities of a faculty member include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in financial accounting, managerial/cost accounting, data analytics, auditing, or taxation, conducting academic research in different areas of accounting, and providing service to the University. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that tenure-track faculty members will perform their duties within the state of California. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities. RANK AND SALARY:
Assistant Professor.Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization. Anticipated salary:$10,639 to $11,025 per month; ($127,668 to $132,300 per year). DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester, 2026. QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must (1) have an earned Ph.D. in Accounting or related field from an AACSB accredited institution no later than the effective date of the appointment with specialized preparation in one or more of the following areas: accounting, auditing, and taxation, or MS/MA in Taxation or JD/LLM (Taxation) and BA/BS/MA/MS in Accounting with high- level professional tax experience, (2) demonstrate a record of scholarly activities, (3) meet CSU East Bay, College of Business and Economics AACSB faculty qualification standards for Scholarly Academics (SA) (available online), and (4) possess strong communication skills. Applicants with professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE, CISA, among others and/or extensive work experience in accounting, auditing, or taxation are preferred. Candidates should demonstrate experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or community service that has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
