Overview
Primary Function: Develops and implements partnerships with Head Start families, including Family Partnership Agreements. Coordinates training for parents. Advocates for, works with, and helps strengthen low-income families by assisting in the setting and meeting of academic and vocational goals. Makes parents aware of community services and resources and facilitates their use by assisting the family in its own efforts to improve the condition and quality of family life. Qualifications: 1. Associates Degree in social work or related field. 2. Experience in social work or a family support program. 3. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed. 4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Policy Council and Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Understands and promotes the goals and philosophy of Head Start. 2. Recruits children from target areas and achieves and maintains funding enrollment. Maintains a waiting list of at least 15% for total funding enrollment. 3. Conducts home visits to assess family needs and assist with Family & Community Partnerships plans. 4. Interviews parents and conduct home visits as needed providing encouragement in parental involvement. 5. Completes family needs/goals and community assessment. 6. Supports families to develop skills needed to achieve their goals. 7. Initiates and sustains contact with service organizations. 8. Maintains a current directory of community resources. 9. Links families to community providers. 10. Provides information for Program Information Report. 11. Assists families in taking more responsibility for meeting their needs when needed. 12. Helps prepare families for the job market through resources, referrals, and training. 13. Reviews parents' goals for their children with teaching staff. 14. Attends appropriate community meetings and events. 15. Collects and monitors daily and monthly attendance; contacts families with four consecutive absentees. Maintains a record keeping system. 18. Engages in personal/professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics. 19. Performs other related duties that are required by director. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Head Start policy on Evaluation of Head Start Personnel.
