Detailed Job Description: The role of a Protective Services Officer involves carrying out assignments in protection, ensuring the safety and security of high-profile locations, foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area. This includes providing protection for locations such as The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex. Responsibilities: Providing security coverage at various locations throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Traveling to support Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A. Requirements: Hold U.S. citizenship. Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license. Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time of conditional employment offer, unless previously served in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position. Carry and use a firearm, maintaining proficiency is mandatory. Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, and corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random testing while occupying the position. Complete intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center. Certify registration with the Selective Service System or exemption, if applicable. Working Conditions: May work outdoors in extreme temperatures and weather conditions. May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Benefits: A competitive salary of $50,000. An excellent benefits package.
