Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Fire Protection Engineer in Richland, WA. This position supports Navarro-ATL, located in Richland, WA, managing the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL includes Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
Our Fire Protection Engineering group seeks a dynamic engineer with strong technical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and time-management skills. The role aims to minimize fire-related risks, protect personnel, the environment, and property, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities include: Supporting the Fire Protection Program under general supervision, including peer reviews, fire investigations, resolving system discrepancies, and preparing exemption requests. Ensuring fire hazards are mitigated, life safety is maintained, and facilities comply with DOE, NFPA, and other standards. Reviewing and supporting construction activities, fire system testing, and procurement to ensure standards compliance. Reviewing fire protection system inspections, testing, and maintenance work packages. Interfacing with the Hanford Fire Marshal, and acting as Deputy Fire Marshal when qualified. Disseminating fire safety information to management, establishing policies, and revising fire hazard analyses. Performing facility assessments, self-assessments, and supporting subcontractor fire safety reviews. Maintaining proficiency through training and providing technical assistance to DOE. Minimum Requirements
BS in Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 7-10 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of International Building Code, NFPA, and occupational safety standards. Qualified as a Professional Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers or a Registered Professional Fire Protection Engineer. Desired Qualifications
Current appointment as Hanford Deputy Fire Marshal. Experience supporting chemical laboratories and DOE facilities. At least 5 years of Fire Protection Engineering experience at DOE or nuclear facilities. Compensation
Salary ranges based on grade: Grade 18: $104,175 - $131,425 Grade 19: $114,475 - $144,325 Grade 20: $126,025 - $158,875 The offered grade depends on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Company Benefits
