Product Designer Who We Are At Serval, we're building the AI platform for IT teams. Our goal is to take on legacy players like ServiceNow, a $230+ bn company, by building the platform for AI agents to resolve IT issues instead of humans. Serval "automates the automation," using a natural language-to-code workflow builder and AI agents that discover and deliver automations for tedious IT workflows. Our mission is to free IT departments from the #helpdesk channel by creating the simplest way to automate employee onboarding / offboarding, software access management, and the long tail of employee requests. Long term, our vision extends to developing a universal workflow automation platform for all business functions. Serval was founded by product and engineering leaders from Verkada and is backed by industry-leading investors like First Round, General Catalyst, Alt Capital, and Box Group. Role Overview As Founding Product Designer, you'll work closely with the founding team to build the Serval platform from the ground up. Our focus is on usability, and you'll be challenged to create intuitive and beautiful interactions that unlock powerful automation capabilities. Responsibilities Deeply understand complex problem spaces and forge simple, elegant design solutions. Generate ideas and drive collaborative processes to elicit ideas from teammates. Explore those ideas via mockups, interactive prototypes, and usability testing with customers. Work with engineering to understand technical constraints and make pragmatic tradeoffs on designs. Develop designs through every stage: from exploratory concepts to pixel-perfect, shipped UI. Build the foundations of a flexible and scalable design system. Support the development of early brand content, including logo and landing page. Qualifications 5+ years experience as an in-house product designer, preferably designing full applications end-to-end. Experience designing and prototyping in Figma. Enjoy tackling complex problems and exploring ambiguity in defining new product categories. Care about details and love crafting pixel-perfect UI. Collaborate well with product and engineering teammates. Willing to ship features and make tradeoffs to deliver value to customers. See how your work impacts users and business metrics. Self-starter who proactively seeks impact opportunities. Can give and receive constructive feedback and explain design decisions. Comfortable in a high-growth startup environment, managing multiple projects. Bonus Points Experience as a founding or early product designer at a startup. Experience with B2B SaaS tools.
