Company Stage of Funding: Seed-Stage Venture-Backed Startup
Office Type: Onsite, 4 Days a Week
Salary: $200,000 – $250,000 base + equity up to 3%

Our client is an early-stage, venture-backed startup founded by alumni from Meta and Airtable. The company is on a mission to reimagine analytics in a world where every user experiences AI-personalized interfaces. With AI transforming user experiences at scale, traditional dashboards and metrics fall short—this startup is building the platform to bridge that gap. As their first Forward Deployed Data Scientist, you’ll join a small and elite founding team in San Francisco. This is a rare opportunity to shape a new category from the ground up, influence product direction, and define how modern businesses derive insights from personalized user experiences.What You Will Do
- Own customer-facing data science implementations from end to end, helping early customers succeed with the product
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product to translate insights into scalable features
- Automate data workflows and develop internal tooling to streamline insight generation
- Conduct deep-dive analyses and experiments across LLM-driven UX systems
- Represent the company in strategic conversations with customers, shaping product direction based on real-world needs
- Help define company culture, processes, and long-term data strategy as a founding hire
Ideal Candidate Background
- Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and applied data science
- Experience working directly with customers or cross-functional product teams
- Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and common data science libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, StatsModels, scikit-learn)
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and tools
Preferred
- Experience with generative AI or LLMs
- Background in analytics tooling, data infrastructure, or AI/ML product development
- Familiarity with BigQuery, Snowflake, and modern data stack tools
- Desire to eventually found a company or take on a highly entrepreneurial role
Compensation, Benefits, and Other Information
- Competitive Base Salary: $200,000 – $250,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
- Equity: Up to 3% equity available as a founding team member
- Work Environment: Onsite in San Francisco 4 days per week, fostering deep collaboration and velocity
- Visa Support: Willing to transfer existing visas (e.g., H-1B); new visa applications cannot be sponsored at this time
