$60.00/hr - $75.00/hr Direct message the job poster from JT Mega We're seeking a versatile, solutions-focused web developer to join our team in a contract/freelance-to-hire capacity.
This hybrid role is based in Minneapolis/St. Paul
and requires a minimum of 25 hours per week. You'll be instrumental in building, maintaining, and evolving WordPress-based sites and tools, combining front-end WordPress development with occasional back-end, server-side, and API work. A strong interest in AI-powered technologies like chatbots and automation is a must. We apply our deep experience, market insights and strategic planning expertise to develop integrated programs and big ideas that ensure our clients consistently win in the marketplace. Responsibilities: Customize and extend WordPress themes, Gutenberg blocks, and plugins. Integrate with CRM tools such as Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and HubSpot. Troubleshoot and resolve website performance, security, and user experience issues. Explore opportunities to leverage AI for code troubleshooting and rapid low-fidelity prototyping. Implement API-based features through custom data handling or third-party tool integration. Work with various hosting solutions and partners to troubleshoot server errors/configurations.
Ideal Skill Set: Strong proficiency in WordPress development (custom themes, hooks, filters, templates). Experience building pages using Gutenberg, Elementor, and Pardot/Marketing Cloud. Familiarity with REST APIs (consuming and potentially building). Ability to navigate and troubleshoot server-side or hosting issues (e.g., WP Engine, Cloudways). Experience with version control systems, primarily GitHub. Proficiency with WYSIWYG layout editors/builders (Elementor, MailChimp, etc.). A proactive mindset around AI, including using AI to streamline development, integrate intelligent features, or power chatbot experiences. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Requirements: Local to Minneapolis/St Paul area and able to attend in-person meetings and collaboration 5+ years proven experience as a WordPress Developer with a strong portfolio. Experience with custom themes, Gutenberg blocks, and plugin development. Experience working with staging/production environments and various deployment processes. Knowledge of website performance optimization and security best practices. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite, primarily XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Apple/Mac user preferred.
Bonus Points: Familiarity with React. Familiarity with best practices for Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager (GTM), and Google Search Consoles Core Web Vitals. Familiarity with automation tools like Zapier or Make. Understanding of authentication flows (e.g., login tokens, sessions). UX/UI sensibility.
Hourly Rate:
