The City of Los Angeles is offering a full-time position with a salary range of $81,452 to $174,890 annually. The job listing will close on July 24, 2025, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. The duties of this position include technically difficult programming and application or software support, evaluating existing systems and procedures, and designing and implementing systems of computer programs. Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must have either a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with completion of 24 semester or 36 quarter units in information systems, computer engineering, or computer science and two years of full-time paid experience in the assessment, design, development, testing, and implementation of software applications; or two years of full-time paid experience as an Applications Programmer with the City of Los Angeles. Additional programming analyst experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Candidates must also possess a valid Class C driver's license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and meet specific driving record requirements. Experience working in various programming and technology areas is highly preferred, including but not limited to internet and client/server applications, web services implementation, GIS programming, object-oriented design concepts, web servers, core computer programming concepts, relational database design concepts, enterprise resource planning packages, business intelligence tools, integrated development environments, application servers, mobile application development technologies, and content management systems. The selection process will consist entirely of a weighted multiple-choice test administered and proctored online. The test will evaluate competencies such as analytical ability, attention to detail, customer service, teamwork, follow written directions, job knowledge, systems development life cycle, technical design and documentation, database platforms and structures, and other necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities. Candidates will be able to take the test from a remote location using a computer with a webcam and a reliable internet connection. The test will be proctored and administered during a single session. Candidates must complete and submit the test by the specified date and time to be considered further in the examination.
