Overview
This role involves a variety of tasks throughout the year, focusing on the handling and processing of crop and seed products. From September to October, operators will receive and process trucks hauling crops, manage husking and sorting operations, operate dryers, shell and store crops, and supply the Conditioning department with seed. November to March involves labeling, tagging, bagging, palletizing seeds, and staging them for shipment. Between April and August, operators will be responsible for retagging in-house seeds, inspecting and cleaning pro boxes, and re-bagging returned seeds. Responsibilities: Receive and process trucks hauling crop from the field for weighing and unloading. Complete a wide range of harvest activities, including husk and sort operations. Operate dryer to dry crop within prescribed safety, quality, and financial requirements. Shell and store crop from bins in the dryer facility. Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed. Apply appropriate treatment to seed. Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed. Enter inventory information into computer systems. Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse. Retag in-house seed and re-bag backhaul (returned) seed. Inspect pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and clean. Wash pro boxes as necessary. Transition into warehousing and packaging roles starting in August. Essential Skills: Ability to lift 50-60lbs. Perform repetitive tasks efficiently. Sit and stand for long periods. Climb stairs and differentiate/see colors. Read and speak English. Steel-toed shoes are mandatory. Forklift experience is preferred. No education required. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Forklift experience is a nice-to-have skill. Non-colorblind candidates preferred. Why Work Here? Work Environment: The work environment is an agricultural setting, which can be dusty due to corn and insecticide dust. Employees should be prepared to stand on their feet for 12-hour shifts, climb stairs, and lift up to 60 lbs. The schedule includes rotating shifts with weekends, moving to 24-hour packaging and warehouse operations. Smoking and tobacco products are strictly prohibited on-site. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Switz City, Indiana. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
