This professionally-minded individual will work directly with the Office of Campus Life in several different areas, primarily in Fraternity and Sorority Programs (FSP) advising and program coordination. Mercer's Macon campus houses twenty active chapters representing four councils and making up 24% of our undergraduate student population. This graduate assistant will assist the Campus Life team with general campus life student programming, service, engagement, and Campus Life marketing. This individual must be available some evening and weekend hours. The position requires a two year commitment to the Office of Campus Life. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Plan and conduct new member workshops, management recruitment of four councils, and coordinate the Fraternity and Sorority Life leadership retreat. Manage all required paperwork, lectures and trainings for FSP students throughout the year. Learn all aspects of advising all four fraternity and sorority councils and work closely with fraternity and sorority chapter presidents on a 1-1 basis. Assist with all major Campus Life events including, Bear Fair, Neighbear, Family Weekend, Homecoming and Bearstock. Assist with budget development, event planning, management, and student advising. Other duties as assigned. Requirements for applicants: Must be about to begin their 1st year in the Mercer University Master of Higher Education Leadership program on the Macon Campus. Have experience as an undergraduate student in Campus Life. Ideal candidate will have held leadership positions within a fraternity or sorority chapter or in student leadership organizations on campus. Have enthusiasm and a desire for a career in higher education and an interest in Campus Life. Possess creativity, self-motivation and flexibility. Possess excellent computer skills. Able to work both independently and in group settings with various Mercer constituencies including students, faculty, staff and alumni. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Candidates will complete the online application and submit via email a resume, cover letter and verification of acceptance into the Master of Higher Education Leadership Program. The position does come with an option to live on campus and work with The Office of Residence Life in a graduate on call rotation. If there is interest, additional screening is required to determine eligibility with Housing and Residence Life. This position will include a tuition waiver for nine credit hours a semester and a bi-weekly stipend. The position is a two year agreement with flexibility in the summer. The position will begin in early July for all live on graduate assistants. Select candidates will interview with the Campus Life staff. Pay is $14 an hour.
