Essential Functions
Develops and implements plans to efficiently utilize materials, labor, and equipment in a multiple functional manufacturing facility. Works with executive management to ensure that plant efforts and project initiatives are aligned with the business needs and strategic direction. Drives continuous improvements efforts including developing, monitoring and reporting key performance indicators. Implements corrective action measures as required to meet productivity and workplace behavioral standards. Implements changes to the organizational structure and process flows to improve lead times and operation efficiencies. Utilizes Lean and Six Sigma tools to eliminate waste driving customer satisfaction, cost reduction, and improved working capital performance. Participates in the planning process via budget preparation, capital expenditure recommendation, manpower, and space forecasting. Promotes a culture of safety and heavily focuses on the safety and quality results of the entire facility. Ensures compliance with applicable OSHA workplace safety requirements. Coordinates efforts with purchasing and production control to ensure that critical production materials, equipment and supplies are keep at the appropriate inventory levels and are procured at the lowest possible cost consistent with the necessary quality and service levels. Exercises full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination, and other personnel actions.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degrees in business, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of ten years of diverse manufacturing experience with at least seven years of management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong manufacturing technical knowledge required. Strong background in budgeting and financial administration in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge & Skills
P&L responsibilities and accountability Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Experience with Microsoft Office products and MRP/ERP Systems Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects – plan, organize and prioritize. Ability to read blueprints, drawing and schematics. Ability to interpret and adjust to situations that involve conflicting goals. Demonstrated ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers. Strong communication, leadership, people development, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
Physcial Requirements
Manufacturing:
Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs. Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment. Ability to use of hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment Requires standing for prolonged periods of time Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Must be able to walk and use hands Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively
