Overview
Responsible for employee training and development, employee relations activities such as service awards, employee communication programs, program activities and functions, state and federal regulatory compliance. Also, participates in the hiring process including interviewing, testing, and evaluating candidates; Conducts orientations of new employees; Assists where possible and requested within the other functional areas of the HR Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Safety:
- Responsible to follow all safety procedures and practices.
- Ensures and maintains the quality guidelines, procedures, and standards are consistently followed throughout the manufacturing operation.
Training/Development
- Coordinates activities to identify and define training needs, both company wide and for specific departments.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and recommends changes based upon the evaluation.
- Researches, plans, and organizes company-training programs.
- Conducts, or arranges for others to conduct, training programs, seminars and conferences for supervisory, technical, and management personnel.
- Actively seeks and attempts to acquire all available and applicable state and federal training grants for Grote Industries.
- Oversees and administers the training database.
- Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
- Interviews and hires for all hourly manufacturing positions.
- Maintains all job-bid relevant records for bargaining unit employees, including transfer requests, out-of-job lists, and similar; determines job awards and transfers.
- Administers hourly employee testing for skilled labor positions.
- Assists in the coordination and management of Grote's Affirmative Action Program.
- Conducts new employee orientations for hourly and salary positions.
- Maintains database for all employee identification badges.
- Maintains manpower report for all Grote locations.
- HR liaison for coordination of various community activities, e.g., blood drives, fundraisers.
- Assists in grievance investigations and analysis.
- Follows other instructions and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Set-up and teardown of meeting rooms and P.A. Equipment at employee functions both inside and outside the plant.
- Edits, writes and distributes the Company newsletter.
- Coordinating yearly service awards banquet and gift ordering.
- Assists EH&S Engineer with record keeping associated with employee parking (lot assignments, parking passes, violation records).

Degree or equivalent experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.

- Two or more years' experience in an HR related position, preferred.

Knowledge in:
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
