Solution Architect
to drive application modernization and cloud transformation. In this role, you will help reimagine critical supply chain applications-guiding the replatforming of legacy IBMi (RPG/ILE) systems onto modern cloud infrastructure (GCP). Location:
Greater Seattle Area Compensation and Benefits:
$145,000 - $185,000 per year plus bonus and stock options. This range represents the estimated low and high end of the compensation range for this position. All experience levels will be considered.
Responsibilities:
Drive the strategic vision, design, and architecture of critical business applications with a focus on IBMi modernization and replatforming to Google Cloud. Modernize legacy IBMi applications using RPG ILE or RPG Free and Visual Studio Code. Architect scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions aligned with enterprise standards. Lead large-scale modernization projects from design through delivery, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines and budgets. Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and delivery teams on solution planning and implementation. Guide and mentor engineering teams while evangelizing architectural best practices. Provide architectural input on new product development, integration strategies, and infrastructure upgrades. Establish and document technical standards, patterns, and architecture principles. Recommend infrastructure enhancements that support performance optimization and future scalability. Define and communicate trade-offs and design decisions to both technical and executive audiences. Key Qualifications and Skills:
10+ years in IT with deep experience in solution architecture, systems design, and development. 10+ years of hands-on experience with IBMi, RPG, and ILE development and implementation. Proven experience modernizing and decoupling IBMi applications and transitioning to cloud environments (preferably GCP). 5+ years of experience in supply chain technology, including transformation initiatives. 3+ years of leadership experience managing and mentoring technical teams. Proficient with modern development tools including Visual Studio Code. Experience with COTS package integrations and enterprise-grade system design. Knowledge of application design methodologies and SDLC practices (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall). Expertise in RESTful APIs, multi-tiered architecture, and enterprise integration. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strategic mindset with an eye on business outcomes, scalability, and performance. Familiarity with architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF, IASA CITA) is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred. Experience in retail, ecommerce, logistics, or manufacturing domains is highly desirable.
