Description
The YMCA is looking to hire a part-time Safe Sitter Trainer that would be responsible for training our Safe Sitter course. Safe Sitter is designed to prepare students 6th grade and up to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Classes are typically on Saturday during the school year and open up to include weekdays during the summer and the class will run for 6 hours. Classes are held in the Laguna Niguel and Huntington Beach areas.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Ensure the Y is well represented publicly with a professional demeanor at all times through attitude, attire and communication and interactions both in-person and online.
- Plan and facilitate Safe Sitter trainings.
- Ensure best practices are followed for communication with peers and parents.
- Follow and enforce safety training standards and all other policies and procedures.
- Report attendance and class feedback to supervisor.
- Ensures adequate, clean training equipment for all classes.
- Disinfects all training equipment after completion of classes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties & responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location
Education & Certification:
- Must be at least 18years of age
- Minimum 1 year prior experience in training, coaching, teaching, or working with children
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Safe Sitter certified (Paid for by the YMCA)
- Ability to evaluate training effectiveness
Once a conditional offer is made, candidates will be subject to criminal background check, drug screen, and will be asked to provide criminal history. Criminal history will be analyzed on a case by case basis as it related to the position. YMCA of Orange County participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
