Under the direction of the Information Technology Architect 3 (Artificial Intelligence), the Information Technology Architect 2 (Artificial Intelligence) will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technical solutions that meet business needs while adhering to all policies and standards. The position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, architect solutions, and ensure successful delivery. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Design end-to-end AI technical solutions that address business requirements and align with AI architecture principles and standards. Develop solution architectures, technical specifications, and system designs. Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams throughout the solution development lifecycle. Collaborate with AI architects, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with architectural best practices. Work closely with user experience, business analysts, and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements. Translate business requirements into AI technical solutions, considering factors such as security, scalability, and high availability of the AI environment. Evaluate new and emerging technologies to determine their suitability for inclusion in an AI technical solutions catalog. Conduct proof-of-concept evaluations and provide recommendations for AI technology adoption. Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Ensure that AI solutions adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Engage with stakeholders at all levels to communicate AI technical solutions, gather feedback, and address concerns. Present technical proposals and recommendations to executive leadership and other key stakeholders. Collaborate with AI architecture project development teams to ensure that technical solutions are implemented according to design specifications. Provide technical oversight and support during the AI architecture project implementation phase. Drive continuous improvement in AI solution architecture processes and practices. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance AI solution quality. Minimum Qualifications: Employment: Seven (7) years of broad information technology (IT) experience, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of AI engineering or other AI-related specialty and its application within large-scale organizations. Five (5) years of specialized experience designing, executing, and supporting artificial intelligence solutions. Education/Experience Substitutions: Earned college degrees in computer engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or a related field of study may substitute for the specified years of broad IT experience as follows: Bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or related field substitutes for three (3) years of general information technology experience; any bachelor's substitutes for two (2) years of general information technology experience. Associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of general information technology experience. Candidates in a bachelor's degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or related field may substitute such credits for one (1) year of general information technology experience. Master's degree or higher in computer engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or related field substitutes for one (1) year of general information technology experience. Preferred Qualifications: Preference for candidates holding relevant AI architecture certification, including but not limited to: ARTIBA: Artificial Intelligence Engineer AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty IBM AI Developer Professional Certificate IBM AI Engineering Professional Certificate Google Advanced Data Analytics Professional Certificate Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer Certification Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals MIT: Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy USAII Certified Artificial Intelligence Consultant (CAIC) USAII Certified Artificial Intelligence Engineer (CAIE) Strong technical background with extensive experience with applied mathematics, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, ML techniques like random forest, neural networks, and natural language processing (NLP). Substantial experience working with AI tools like big data (Hadoop, Apache Spark), data science, and advanced analytics tools like SAS. Broad understanding of coding and programming languages, including but not limited to Python and R. Good understanding of software engineering and DevOps principles, including knowledge of DevOps workflows and tools, such as Git, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. Proven ability to lead and manage change projects with cross-functional teams. Experience with ethical AI practices and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively facilitate the contribution of both agency stakeholders and IT specialists, allowing both parties to equally contribute to overall objectives. Ability to multitask, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritizing workload. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot multiple complex AI systems issues, identify the source of problems in a timely manner, and conceive effective solutions. Strong critical thinking skills and business-orientation. Ability to align business needs with technical specifications. Clearly recognizes agencies' objectives and leverages personal IT expertise, minimizing expenditures and maximizing operational revenues. Salary commensurate with experience. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $2,000 adjustment location pay.
