This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology, Enterprise Wireless Communication Branch, located in Orlando, FL. Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts and methods to support Information Technology systems and services. In this position you will serve as an Information Technology Specialist (Network), ensuring that systems and services impacted by major incidents are restored to acceptable levels as quickly as possible thus minimizing impact to mission critical application. This position starts at a salary of $88,621.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $115,213.00 (GS-12, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. In this Information Technology Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals to provide technology service, implement projects and deploy systems to reduce downtime and maintain operational availability. Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Reviewing network utilization statistics and performance measures; ensuring network stability, quality and maximum performance while maintaining system security and integrity. Researching, evaluating and triaging incidents to determine scope, urgency, and potential impact. Analyzing incident reports and network alerts from various sources and overseeing the implementation of corrective actions. Tracking and reporting on plan and design development for network modifications and enhancements following postmortem and root cause analyses. Producing various reports accurately and meeting defined deadlines. Requirements Conditions of Employment: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position. Qualifications Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Experience GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Resolving a variety of information technology problems, questions, or situations that involve the design, testing, implementation, operation, and support of IT systems. Evaluating unusual circumstances, considering different approaches and dealing with incomplete and conflicting data. Using judgment and originality by interpreting data, planning the work and refining the methods and techniques being used.
