Overview
We're seeking a strategic and technically accomplished Enterprise Cloud Architect to drive our cloud transformation and architectural excellence. You'll help shape our enterprise architecture strategy while leading AWS cloud initiatives that enable scalable, efficient, and innovative solutions.
As an individual contributor with significant cross-functional influence, you'll lead architectural initiatives spanning multiple teams and technologies. You'll focus primarily on AWS cloud services and enterprise architecture patterns while collaborating with our security team to ensure proper protection of our cloud environments.
Responsibilities Strategic Architecture Leadership Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and governance frameworks. Lead cross-functional architectural initiatives and technology roadmap development. Drive adoption of AWS Well-Architected Framework principles across all cloud implementations. Collaborate to establish and maintain architectural review processes, facilitating design sessions and technical workshops to drive effective decision-making. Cloud & AWS Architecture Excellence Design and oversee the implementation of complex AWS solutions, including network, high availability, disaster recovery, and secure integrations. Lead cloud migration strategies and modernization initiatives from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures. Architect multi-account AWS environments with proper governance and cost optimization. Champion DevOps practices, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies. Optimize cloud resource utilization and implement cost management strategies. Enterprise Integration & Modernization Design integration patterns and API strategies connecting cloud and on-premises systems. Lead application modernization efforts, including containerization and microservices adoption. Collaborate to establish data architecture patterns and cloud data management strategies. Drive adoption of cloud-native development practices and architectural patterns. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with security teams to protect AWS compute environments at scale. Collaborate with development teams to implement architectural standards and best practices. Work with infrastructure teams to optimize cloud operations and automation Design architectures to facilitate regulatory requirements and support compliance. Technical Leadership & Mentorship Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering input from all team members to shape cohesive architectural solutions that drive effective outcomes. Lead R&D teams' transition from on-premises development to a SaaS mindset, driving adoption of cloud-native design, DevOps, and continuous delivery. Assist and lead architectural reviews, design sessions, and technical decision-making processes with a focus on SaaS best practices such as multi-tenancy, supportability, scalability, and security. Mentor teams on modern cloud technologies, SaaS architecture patterns, and operational excellence in a cloud environment. Foster a culture of architectural excellence and continuous improvement. Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field 8+ years in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, or senior technical roles 5+ years hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud architecture patterns Proven experience designing large-scale, distributed systems and cloud solutions Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing cross-functional teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders Core Technical Skills AWS Services: EC2, VPC, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, EKS, API Gateway, CloudWatch Architecture Patterns: Microservices, event-driven architecture, serverless, containerization Automation: Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices Integration: API design, message queuing, data pipelines, hybrid cloud connectivity Performance: Cloud optimization, cost management, scalability patterns, monitoring, and observability Preferred Qualifications
Certifications & Advanced Experience AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, TOGAF certifications Multi-cloud environments, container orchestration (EKS, Kubernetes), serverless architectures Large-scale enterprise environments, regulated industries, or public sector experience Experience mentoring technical teams or leading architecture transformation initiatives Data architecture, API management, cloud cost optimization, DevOps automation specializations Security Knowledge (Collaborative) Understanding of cloud security best practices and AWS security services Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2, NIST, FedRAMP) Knowledge of network security and identity management concepts Experience with security-conscious architectural design
